ITA & Ministry of Manpower signs agreement to develop work-licensing system
The Information Technology Authority (ITA) and the Ministry of Manpower with Nortal Company signed an agreement to develop work-licensing system. HE Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser Al Bakri, Manpower Minister, signed the agreement with Dr. Salim Sultan Al Ruzaiqi, CEO of the Information Technology, and Brett Almi, CEO of Nortal group, the company executing the project.
The agreement value is 3.755.086.82 million RO for two years in addition to three-year follow-up on the technical functions and maintenance work.
On signing the agreement, HE Sheikh Abdullah Al Bakri, Minister of Manpower, said: “The main aim of this agreement is to re-engineer the licensing procedures and measures to complement the electronic transformation project of the ministry. Preparations for this project was done before with the Information Technology Authority through preparing a consultancy study by a Singaporean company (IDA), which introduced the Singaporean experience in this field and evaluated the ministry measures and procedures by which the specifications for the tender was prepared. The Ministry of Manpower counts a lot on this project to simplify and streamline the procedures and transparency with the ministry customers both individuals and institutions.”
Dr. Salim Al Ruzaiqi, CEO of the Information Technology Authority said: "This is an important step in the transformation of eGovernment, given the importance of the project to a wide cross-section of citizens and residents. It’s a quantum leap in transforming procedures and transactions from the traditional method to the electronic with high quality and reliability to reduce as much as possible of the procedures and official documents required.”
Al Ruzaiqi added: “Sanad Centers will be a main channel in providing the service through this project in cooperation with Al Rufd Fund. The information Technology Authority will do it’s best to ensure the success of this project through the follow-up and supervision in the implementation as well as providing all the required consultations. We will spare no effort to harness all the technical capabilities including central initiatives and infrastructure projects needed for the success of this project."
This project aims to develop an integrated framework in accordance with the highest standards and principles using the best information technology tools necessary to organize the workforce in the Omani market. In addition, to meeting the requirements of the economic growth to achieve development goals at the national level, through the policies and procedures for managing the development of the workforce to be able effectively and efficiently to organize the labor market in the Sultanate.
